Plumbing and drains
In the event of problems with the plumbing or drains, the maintenance company should be notified immediately.
Dripping taps and toilet cisterns, leaking radiators and blocked drains need to be repaired urgently. If left unattended, these problems can cause major damage to the entire property, and repairing them can cause a major increase in living costs.
- Do not wash food waste, fat or coffee grounds down the kitchen sink.
- Check the kitchen waste pipes regularly. If a joint is leaking, tighten the sealing ring.
- Do not throw sanitary towels, nappies, cat litter or any other such items which may cause blockages down the toilet.
- Clean the kitchen, bathroom and toilet drains and traps regularly. If the drain starts to smell, this may be a sign that the U-bend has dried up. This can be solved by pouring water down the drain.
