Summer flowers delight residents and bees

Kesäkukkien istuttaminen kerrostalojen pihoille tarjoaa monia etuja sekä asukkaille että ympäristölle.
A flowering garden can promote social interaction between residents. In many houses, residents have formed flower groups or residents’ representatives have taken responsibility for planting flowers, creating a sense of community and strengthening neighbourly relations.
In addition, planting and caring for summer flowers can provide significant emotional well-being. Gardening is known to be relaxing and calming, and can provide residents with a pleasant way to spend time outdoors and improve the atmosphere of their living environment.
Flowering plantings not only create a beautiful environment but also provide important habitats for pollinators such as butterflies and bees, which play a key role in maintaining biodiversity. Many pollinator species are endangered, and planting pollinator-friendly plants such as carnations, violets, marigolds, drift grass and sunflowers can help maintain populations of these important insects.
Overall, planting summer flowers in the courtyards of apartment buildings has many benefits, contributing to ecological diversity as well as to the well-being and sense of community of the residents.
Is there a plan for summer flowers in your garden?
Here are instructions for VAV residents:
- Summer flowers are the joy of VAV yards and part of the residents’ activities. VAV provides the money to buy flowers.
- The flower money does not reduce the annual budget for residents’ activities.
- The residents’ committees manage the summer flowers together with the residents.
- The chairman/chairwoman of the residents’ committee has an S Group business card. It can be used to pick up summer flowers and planting materials from S Group shops.
- If necessary, the VAV can also issue a separate purchase authorisation for summer flowers to the chairperson of the residents’ committee.
- Please only plant flowers in communal areas. Please give preference to pots.
