Tax returns count as income with Kela’s social assistance
12.11.2018News
If you are entitled to social assistance provided by Kela, it’s good to know that tax returns count as income. This year, tax returns are paid on December 11th, so they may affect December’s social assistance.
For a single individual, the portion of his or her tax return that exceeds 50 euros will affect social assistance. For families, the portion that exceeds 100 euros likewise affects it. For example, if a person living alone receives 150 euros as tax return, the portion which will affect December’s social assistance is 100 euros. You can find more information on social assistance and how it’s calculated on the Kela website.
